बाबा बूढ़ानाथ मंदिर, बिहार
इस मंदिर में भगवान शंकर माता पार्वती एवं शक्ति स्वरूपा मां दुर्गा आदि की प्राचीन प्रतिमा स्थापित है।आस्था का अमूल्य धरोहर है बाबा बूढ़ानाथ मंदिर। इसकी गौरव गाथा अति प्राचीन है। अंग कर धरती पर पतित पावनी गंगा के किनारे अवस्थित यह मंदिर श्रद्धालुओं की नजर में विश्वविख्यात है।
ऐतिहासिक पृष्ठभूमि
बक्सर से ताड़का सुर का वध करने के बाद वशिष्ठ मुनी अपने शिष्य राम और लक्ष्मण के साथ भागलपुर आए थे। उसी समय त्रेता युग में उन्होंने बाबा बूढ़ानाथ मंदिर की स्थापना कर शिवलिंग की पूजा-अर्चना की थी। शिव पुराण के द्वादश अध्याय में भी इस बात का उल्लेख है। इसी मंदिर के नाम से ही यहां के मोहल्ले का भी बूढ़ानाथ है।

पहले बाल वृद्ध के नाम से भी था प्रचलित
महाशिवपुराण के चतुर्थ कोटि रुद्र संहिता द्वितीय अध्याय में इन्हें काशी नामक शिवपुरी स्थित गंगा तट कृति बासेश्वर जैसे शिवलिंग की आभा स्वरूप ही स्थापित बताया गया है। जिसके स्वरूप बालवृद्ध है। बालवृद्ध का ही नाम कालांतर में वृद्धेश्वरनाथ और बूढ़ानाथ हो गया। गुरु वशिष्ठ राजा दशरथ के राजगुरु थे। गुरु वशिष्ठ का चंपापुरी के निकटवर्ती गंगा पर पड़ाव आश्रम रहा था। इसी दौरान उन्होंने इस मंदिर की स्थापना की थी

Historical background
After killing Tadka Sur from Buxar, Vashishtha Muni came to Bhagalpur with his disciples Ram and Lakshman. At the same time, in the Treta Yuga, he established the Baba Budhanath temple and worshiped the Shivling. This thing is also mentioned in the twelfth chapter of Shiva Purana. Budhanath of the locality is also named after this temple.

Guru Vashishtha's halt on the Ganges near Champapuri was an ashram. During this time he had established this temple.
