बड़े हनुमान जी मंदिर
स्थान: प्रयागराज, उत्तर प्रदेश का संगम (जहाँ गंगा, यमुना और सरस्वती नदियाँ मिलती हैं) क्षेत्र
इतिहास: यह रामायण के समय से अस्तित्व में माना जाता है।

विशेष विशेषताएं: भगवान हनुमान की प्रतिमा 20 फीट लंबी और 8 फीट चौड़ी है, भूमिगत है और लेटी हुई स्थिति में है, इसलिए इसे 'लेटे (लेटे हुए) हनुमान' मंदिर कहा जाता है। आधी मूर्ति को पानी में विसर्जित कर दिया जाता है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि गंगा नदी का पानी हर साल भगवान हनुमान की मूर्ति के चरणों को छूता है।
मूर्ति इतनी बड़ी होने के कारण मंदिर को बड़े (बड़ा) हनुमानजी मंदिर कहा जाता है।

दंतकथा:
एक पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार लंका दहन के बाद भगवान हनुमान ने यहां विश्राम किया था।
एक अन्य किंवदंती कहती है कि एक धनी निःसंतान व्यापारी ने भगवान की इस बड़ी संरचना का निर्माण किया और इसे विभिन्न तीर्थ स्थलों पर स्नान कराया। जब प्रयाग, इलाहाबाद में, उन्होंने सपना देखा कि उनकी मूर्ति को वहाँ छोड़ने से उनकी मनोकामना पूरी होगी। उसने ऐसा ही किया और बाद में उसके घर एक पुत्र उत्पन्न हुआ।

इस मंदिर के पास अकबर/इलाहाबाद का किला एक पर्यटक आकर्षण है।
Bade Hanuman Ji Temple
Location: Sangam (where rivers Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati meet) area of Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh
History: It is believed to exist from the time of the Ramayana.

Special features: The Lord Hanuman statue is 20 feet long and 8 feet wide, is underground and in a reclining position, hence called ‘Lete (lying down) Hanuman’ Mandir. Half the idol is immersed in water. It is believed that the water of the river Ganga rises to touch the feet of the Lord Hanuman’s idol every year.
As the idol is so large, the temple is called Bade (big) Hanumanji Temple.

Legend:
One legend says that after burning Lanka, Lord Hanuman rested here.
Another legend says that a wealthy childless trader built this large structure of the Lord and bathed it at various pilgrimage sites. When at Prayag, Allahabad, he dreamt that his wishes would come true if he left the statue there. He did so and a son was born to him later.
