चिंतामण गणेश मंदिर, उज्जैन
उज्जैन के महाकालेश्वर मंदिर से करीब 6 किलोमीटर दूर ग्राम जवास्या में भगवान गणेश का प्राचीनतम मंदिर स्थित है। इसे चिंतामण गणेश के नाम से जाना जाता है। गर्भगृह में प्रवेश करते ही हमें गौरीसुत गणेश की तीन प्रतिमाएं दिखाई देती हैं। यहां पार्वतीनंदन तीन रूपों में विराजमान हैं। पहला चिंतामण, दूसरा इच्छामन और तीसरा सिद्धिविनायक।
ऐसी मान्यता है कि चिंतामण गणेश चिंता से मुक्ति प्रदान करते हैं, जबकि इच्छामन अपने भक्तों की कामनाएं पूर्ण करते हैं। गणेश का सिद्धिविनायक स्वरूप सिद्धि प्रदान करता है। इस अद्भुत मंदिर की मूर्तियां स्वयंभू हैं।

इतिहास
चिंतामण गणेश मंदिर परमारकालीन है, जो कि 9वीं से 13वीं शताब्दी का माना जाता है। इस मंदिर के शिखर पर सिंह विराजमान है। वर्तमान मंदिर का जीर्णोद्धार अहिल्याबाई होलकर के शासनकाल में हुआ। पौराणिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार चिंतामण गणेश सीता द्वारा स्थापित षट् विनायकों में से एक हैं।
जब भगवान श्रीराम ने सीता और लक्ष्मण के साथ अवंतिका खंड के महाकाल वन में प्रवेश किया था तब अपनी यात्रा की निर्विघ्नता के लिए षट् विनायकों की स्थापना की थी। ऐसी भी मान्यता है कि लंका से लौटते समय भगवान राम, सीता एवं लक्ष्मण यहां रुके थे। यहीं पास में एक बावड़ी भी है जिसे लक्ष्मण बावड़ी के नाम से जाना जाता है। बावड़ी करीब 80 फुट गहरी है।

मंदिर के मुख्य पुजारी पंडित सीताराम ने बताया कि गणेश चतुर्थी, तिल चतुर्थी और प्रत्येक बुधवार को यहां श्रद्धालुओं की काफी भीड़ रहती है। चैत्र मास के प्रत्येक बुधवार को यहां मेला भी भरता है। मनोकामना पूर्ण होने पर हजारों श्रद्धालु दूरदराज से पैदल चलकर मंदिर तक पहुंचते हैं। सीताराम पुजारी बताते हैं कि सिंदूर और वर्क से प्रात: गणेशजी का श्रृंगार किया जाता है, जबकि पर्व और उत्सव के दौरान दो बार भी लंबोदर गणेश का श्रृंगार किया जाता है।
पुजारी बताते हैं कि मनोकामना पूर्ण करने के लिए श्रद्धालु यहां मन्नत का धागा बांधते हैं और उल्टा स्वस्तिक भी बनाते हैं। मन्नत के लिए दूध, दही, चावल और नारियल में से किसी एक वस्तु को चढ़ाया जाता है और जब वह इच्छा पूर्ण हो जाती है तब उसी वस्तु का यहां दान किया जाता है।
Chintaman Ganesh Temple, Ujjain
The oldest temple of Lord Ganesha is situated in village Jawasya, about 6 km away from the Mahakaleshwar temple of Ujjain. It is known as Chintaman Ganesh. As soon as we enter the sanctum sanctorum, we see three idols of Gaurisut Ganesha. Here Parvatinandan is seated in three forms. First Chintaman, second Ichhaman and third Siddhivinayak.
It is believed that Chintaman Ganesha bestows freedom from worry, while Ichhaman fulfills the wishes of his devotees. The Siddhivinayak form of Ganesha bestows success. The idols of this wonderful temple are self-manifested.

History
Chintaman Ganesh Temple is of Parmar period, which is believed to be from 9th to 13th century. A lion is sitting on the top of this temple. The present temple was renovated during the reign of Ahilyabai Holkar. According to mythological beliefs, Chintaman Ganesha is one of the Shat Vinayakas established by Sita.
When Lord Shriram had entered the Mahakal forest of Avantika Khand with Sita and Lakshmana, he had established Shat Vinayakas for the smoothness of his journey. It is also believed that Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshmana stayed here while returning from Lanka. There is also a stepwell nearby here which is known as Laxman stepwell. The stepwell is about 80 feet deep.

Present
The chief priest of the temple Pandit Sitaram said that there is a huge crowd of devotees here on Ganesh Chaturthi, Til Chaturthi and every Wednesday. A fair is also held here on every Wednesday of Chaitra month. Thousands of devotees walk from far off places to reach the temple when their wishes are fulfilled. Sitaram Pujari explains that Ganesha is adorned with vermilion and vermilion in the morning, while Lambodar Ganesha is adorned twice during festivals and celebrations.
Priests say that to fulfill their wishes, devotees tie a vow here and also make a reverse swastika. One of the items like milk, curd, rice and coconut is offered for vow and when that wish is fulfilled then the same item is donated here.
