पंचांग के अनुसार प्रत्येक वर्ष वैशाख माह के शुक्ल पक्ष की सप्तमी तिथि को गंगा सप्तमी मनाई जाती है। मान्यता है कि इसी दिन देवी गंगा पृथ्वी पर अवतरित हुई थीं। हिंदू धर्म में गंगा सप्तमी का बहुत ही खास महत्व है। इस दिन मां गंगा की पूजा करने से समस्त पापों से मुक्ति मिलती है। इसके अलावा गंगा सप्तमी पर गंगा नदी में स्नान का बहुत अधिक महत्व होता है। इस दिन दान करना भी उत्तम फलदाई माना जाता है। गंगा सप्तमी के दिन स्नान-दान और पूजा से दांपत्य जीवन में खुशियां आती हैं और संतान सुख भी प्राप्त होता है।

गंगा सप्तमी 2023 तिथि
वैशाख शुक्ल पक्ष की सप्तमी तिथि की शुरुआत 26 अप्रैल 2023 को सुबह 11 बजकर 27 मिनट पर हो रही है। ये तिथि अगले दिन 27 अप्रैल को दोपहर 01 बजकर 38 मिनट पर समाप्त होगी। शास्त्रों में तीर्थ स्नान के लिए ब्रह्म मुहूर्त को उत्तम बताया गया है, इसलिए 27 अप्रैल 2023 को गंगा स्नान करना शुभ होगा। 27 अप्रैल को मां गंगा की पूजा का शुभ मुहूर्त सुबह 11 बजे से दोपहर 01 बजकर 38 मिनट तक है।
गंगा सप्तमी पूजा विधि
गंगा सप्तमी के दिन यदि आप गंगा नदी में स्नान नहीं कर पा रहे हैं तो सूर्योदय से पहले उठकर घर पर ही पानी में गंगाजल मिलाकर स्नान कर लें।
इसके बाद अपने घर के मंदिर में मां गंगा की मूर्ति या तस्वीर के साथ कलश की स्थापना करें।
इस कलश में रोली, चावल, गंगाजल, शहद, चीनी, इत्र और गाय का दूध इन सभी सामग्रियों को भर कर कलश के ऊपर नारियल रखें और इसके आसपास मुख पर अशोक के पांच पत्ते लगा दें। साथ ही नारियल पर कलावा बांध दें।
फिर देवी गंगा की प्रतिमा या तस्वीर पर कनेर का फूल, लाल चंदन, फल और गुड़ का प्रसाद चढ़ाकर मां गंगा की आरती करें।
साथ ही 'गायत्री मंत्र' तथा गंगा सहस्त्रनाम स्त्रोत का का जाप करें।

धार्मिक मान्यता
गंगा सप्तमी के दिन सुबह सूर्योदय से पहले उठकर गंगा नदी में स्नान करना बहुत ही शुभ होता है। इस दिन गंगा जी में डुबकी लगाने से जीवन के सभी दुखों से मुक्ति मिल जाती है। साथ ही सभी तरह के पाप मिट जाते हैं।

Ganga saptami 2023 date
The Saptami Tithi of Vaishakh Shukla Paksha is starting on 26 April 2023 at 11.27 am. This date will end the next day on April 27 at 01.38 pm. In the scriptures, Brahma Muhurta has been described as best for pilgrimage bath, so it will be auspicious to bathe in Ganga on 27 April 2023. The auspicious time for worshiping Maa Ganga on April 27 is from 11:00 am to 01:38 pm.
Ganga saptami worship method
On the day of Ganga Saptami, if you are not able to take a bath in the river Ganga, then get up before sunrise and take a bath at home by mixing Ganga water in water.
After this, establish a Kalash with the idol or picture of Maa Ganga in the temple of your home.
Fill this urn with roli, rice, gangajal, honey, sugar, perfume and cow's milk and place a coconut on top of the urn and put five Ashoka leaves on the face around it. Also tie Kalava on the coconut.
Then perform aarti of Maa Ganga by offering flowers, red sandalwood, fruits and jaggery on the statue or picture of Goddess Ganga.
Also chant 'Gayatri Mantra' and Ganga Sahastranam Strot.
