महाभारत की कहानी: भीष्म पितामह के पांच चमत्कारी तीर
यह बात उस समय की है, जब कुरुक्षेत्र में कौरवों और पांडवों के बीच युद्ध चल रहा था। पितामह भीष्म कौरवों की ओर से युद्ध लड़ रहे थे, लेकिन कौरवों के सबसे बड़े भाई दुर्योधन को लगता था कि भीष्म पितामह पांडवों को नुकसान नहीं पहुंचाना चाहते हैं। दुर्योधन का मानना था कि पितामह भीष्म बहुत शक्तिशाली हैं और पांडवों को मारना उनके लिए बहुत आसान है।

इसी सोच में डूबा दुर्योधन, भीष्म पितामह के पास पहुंचा। दुर्योधन ने पितामह से कहा कि आप पांडवों को मारना नहीं चाहते, इसीलिए आप किसी शक्तिशाली हथियार का इस्तेमाल नहीं कर रहे हैं। दुर्योधन की बात सुनकर भीष्म बोले, “अगर तुम्हें ऐसा लगता है, तो मैं कल ही पांचों पांडवों को मार गिराऊंगा। मेरे पास पांच चमत्कारी तीर हैं, जिनका उपयोग मैं कल युद्ध में करूंगा।” भीष्म पितामह की बात सुनकर दुर्योधन बोला, “मुझे आप पर भरोसा नहीं है, इसलिए आप ये पांचों चमत्कारी तीर मुझे दे दीजिए। मैं इन्हें अपने कमरे में सुरक्षित रखूंगा।’ भीष्म ने वो पांचों तीर दुर्योधन को दे दिए।

दूसरी ओर श्रीकृष्ण को इस बात का पता चल गया। उन्होंने अर्जुन को इस बात की जानकारी दी। अर्जुन यह सुनकर घबरा गया और सोचने लगा कि इस मुसीबत से कैसे बचा जाए।
श्रीकृष्ण ने अर्जुन को याद दिलाया कि एक बार तुमने दुर्योधन को गंधर्वो से बचाया था, तब दुर्योधन ने तुमसे कहा था कि इस अहसान के बदले तुम भविष्य में मुझसे कुछ भी मांग सकते हो। यह सही समय है, तुम दुर्योधन से वो पांच चमत्कारिक तीर मांग लाओ। इसी तरह तुम्हारी और तुम्हारे भाइयों की जान बच सकती है।

अर्जुन को श्रीकृष्ण की सलाह बिल्कुल सही लगी। उसे दुर्योधन का दिया वचन याद आ गया।अर्जुन ने जब दुर्योधन को उसका दिया वचन याद दिलाया और पांच तीर मांगे, तो दुर्योधन मना नहीं कर सका। दुर्योधन ने अपना वचन निभाया और वो तीर अर्जुन को दे दिए। इस तरह श्रीकृष्ण ने अपने भक्त पांडवों की रक्षा की।

I have five miraculous arrows, which I will use in the battle tomorrow. After listening to Bhishma Pitamah, Duryodhana said, “I do not trust you, so you give these five miraculous arrows to me. I will keep them safe in my room.' Bhishma gave those five arrows to Duryodhana.

On the other hand Shri Krishna came to know about this. He informed Arjuna about this. Arjun got scared hearing this and started thinking how to avoid this trouble.
Shri Krishna reminded Arjuna that once you had saved Duryodhana from the Gandharvas, then Duryodhana had told you that in return for this favor you can ask anything from me in future. This is the right time, you ask Duryodhana to bring those five miraculous arrows. In this way your and your brothers' lives can be saved.

Shri Krishna's advice to Arjuna was absolutely correct. He remembered Duryodhana's promise. When Arjuna reminded Duryodhana of his promise and asked for five arrows, Duryodhana could not refuse. Duryodhana kept his promise and gave those arrows to Arjuna. In this way Shri Krishna protected his devotee Pandavas.
