मंगला गौरी व्रत कथा
श्रावण मास में पड़ने वाले सभी मंगलवार को मंगला गौरी का यह व्रत किया जाता हैं। इस दिन महिलाएं अपने पति की लंबी आयु के लिए व्रत रखती हैं।
जगन्नाथ मंदिर का पौराणिक इतिहास और इससे जुड़ी कहानी
बहुत समय पहले एक शहर में धरमपाल नामक एक व्यापारी रहता था। धरमपाल की पत्नी बहुत सुन्दर और सुशील थीं। धरमपाल के पास धन-संपत्ति कोई कमी नहीं थी, लेकिन कोई भी संतान न होने के कारण वे दोनों अक्सर दुखी रहा करते थे। कुछ समय बीतने के बाद उन दोनों पर ईश्वर की कृपा हुई और उन्हें एक संतान की प्राप्ति हुई, लेकिन वह अल्पायु था। उनके पुत्र को यह श्राप मिला था की 16 साल की उम्र में सांप के काटने से उसकी मृत्यु हो जाएगी। फिर कुछ ऐसा संयोग बना की उस बालक की शादी 16 वर्ष पूरी होने से पहले ही हो गई। जिस कन्या से उसका विवाह सम्पन्न हुआ उसकी माता की माता मंगला गौरी व्रत किया करती थी।

मां गौरी व्रत की महिमा से उन्हें यह आशीर्वाद प्राप्त था की उसकी बेटी कभी विधवा नहीं हो सकती थी। मां गौरी की असीम अनुकंपा से धरमपाल की बहु को अखंड सौभाग्य की प्राप्ति हुई और उनके बेटे को 100 वर्ष लंबी आयु प्राप्त हुई। इसी समय से मंगला गौरी व्रत की शुरुआत मानी गई है। ऐसा माना जाता हैं कि इस व्रत को करने से महिलाओं को न सिर्फ अखंड सौभाग्य की प्राप्ति होती ही है बल्कि दांपत्य जीवन में भी सदा प्रेम बना रहता है।

Long time ago there lived a merchant named Dharampal in a city. Dharampal's wife was very beautiful and gentle. Dharampal had no dearth of wealth, but both of them were often unhappy because of not having any children. After some time both of them were blessed by God and they got a child. But that was short lived. His son was cursed that he would die of snake bite at the age of 16. Then there was such a coincidence that the child got married even before completing 16 years. The mother of the girl with whom he got married used to observe Mangala Gauri Vrat.

He was blessed by the glory of Maa Gauri Vrat that his daughter could never become a widow. Dharampal's daughter-in-law got unbroken good fortune and her son got a long life of 100 years due to the infinite kindness of mother Gauri. It is believed that by observing this fast, women not only get unbroken good fortune, but love also remains constant in married life.
