नारद जी ने क्यों दिया था नारायण को श्राप?
एक बार भगवान विष्णु अपने वैकुण्ठ धाम में चित्रकला में व्यस्त थे। जब देवर्षि नारद वहां पहुंचे तो उन्होंने देखा कि देवादि देव महादेव, ब्रह्मदेव आदि समेत सभी देवतागण भगवान विष्णु के दर्शनों के लिए आतुर हो रहे हैं लेकिन श्री हरि तो चित्रकला में व्यस्त हैं।
देवर्षि नारद को इस तरह सभी देवताओं का प्रतीक्षा में खड़े रहना अच्छा नहीं लगा जिसके बाद वो माता लक्ष्मी के पास पहुंचे और उनसे पूछने लगे कि प्रभु किसके चित्रण में व्यस्त हैं।

माता लक्ष्मी ने मंद मंद मुस्कान के साथ यह कहा कि श्री हरि अपने सबसे प्रिय भक्त की तस्वीर बना रहे हैं। यह सुन नारद जी को मन ही मन यह उम्मीद जागने लगी कि भगवान विष्णु के प्रिय भक्त तो वही हैं ऐसे में अवश्य भगवान विष्णु उन्हीं का चित्र बना रहे होंगे।
नारद जी भगवान विष्णु के समीप पहुंचे और उनके द्वारा बनने जाने वाले चित्र को देखने का प्रयास करने लगे। जब नारद जी की तस्वीर पर नजर पड़ी तो उन्होंने देखा कि भगवान विष्णु एक गंदे और अर्धनग्न व्यक्ति का चित्र बना रहे थे।

नारद जी को यह देख गुस्सा आया कि भगवान विष्णु सभी देवताओं को छोड़ एक गंदे व्यक्ति का चित्र बना रहे हैं और वह उल्टे पैर पृथ्वी लोक जाने के लिए निकल गए। कुछ दिन नारद जी ने पृथ्वी पर ही भ्रमण किया।
भ्रमण के दौरान अचानक नारद जी को वही व्यक्ति नजर आया जिसका चित्र भगवान विष्णु बना रहे थे। नारद जी ने युक्ति लगाई और अदृश्य रूप में उस व्यक्ति की दिनचर्या पर नजर रखने लगे।

नारद जी ने देखा कि वह व्यक्ति न तो मंदिर जाता है और न ही भगवान की आराधना करता है। यह देखकर नारद जी सोचने लगे कि आखिरकार ऐसा व्यक्ति भगवान का इतना प्रिय कैसे बन सकता है।
उस व्यक्ति के प्रति भगवान विष्णु का इतना लगाव देख नारद जी क्रोध में आ गए और उन्होंने भगवान विष्णु को श्राप दे दिया जिसके बाद यह श्राप त्रेतायुग में जाकर भगवान विष्णु के अवतार श्री राम के समय में फलित हुआ।
हालांकि सत्य यह था कि वह व्यक्ति भगवान विष्णु की पूजा अपने कर्म के रूप में करता था. यानी कि वह रोज अपना कर्म करता और भगवान विष्णु से इसी तरह नियमित अपने कर्म को बिना किसी दुरभाव के किये जाने की प्रार्थना करता।

once Lord Vishnu was busy in painting in his Vaikunth Dham. When Devarshi Narad reached there, he saw that all the deities including Devadi Dev Mahadev, Brahmadev etc. are eager to see Lord Vishnu but Shri Hari is busy in painting.
Devarshi Narad didn't like all the deities standing in wait like this, after which he reached Mata Lakshmi and asked her that in whose portrayal the Lord was busy.

Mata Lakshmi said with a soft smile that Shri Hari is making a picture of her dearest devotee. Hearing this, Narad ji started to hope that Lord Vishnu is the most beloved devotee of Lord Vishnu, so Lord Vishnu must be drawing his picture.
Narad ji reached near Lord Vishnu and started trying to see the picture made by him. When Narad ji looked at the picture, he saw that Lord Vishnu was drawing a picture of a dirty and half-naked person.

Narad ji got angry seeing that Lord Vishnu was drawing a picture of a dirty person leaving all the gods and he left to go to the earth on the wrong foot. For some days Narad ji traveled on the earth only.
During the excursion, suddenly Narad ji saw the same person whose picture Lord Vishnu was making. Narad ji used a trick and started keeping an eye on the daily routine of that person in an invisible form.

Narad ji saw that the person neither goes to the temple nor worships God. Seeing this, Narad ji started thinking that how can such a person become so dear to God.
Seeing so much attachment of Lord Vishnu towards that person, Narad ji got angry and he cursed Lord Vishnu, after which this curse went to Tretayuga and came to fruition at the time of Lord Vishnu's incarnation Shri Ram.
Although the truth was that the person used to worship Lord Vishnu as his karma. That is, he would do his work everyday and would pray to Lord Vishnu to do his work without any ill will on a regular basis.
