प्रदोष व्रत: क्यो महादेव को सबसे प्रिय है यह व्रत?
शिव ऐसे देव हैं जो बहुत जल्द प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं। कुछ ऐसे व्रत पूजा है जिससे शिव जी अति शीघ्र प्रसन्न होते हैं उसी में एक है प्रदोष व्रत । जैसा की नाम से ही जाहिर है किसी भी तरह का दोष हो इस व्रत के करने से वह दोष खंडित हो जाता है भगवान शिव को यह व्रत परम प्रिय है इसलिये इस व्रत में शिवजी की उपासना की जाती है। इस व्रत में भगवान शिव की हर दिन की अलग - अलग पूजा कर अलग - अलग दोष खंडित होते हैं ।

क्या है प्रदोष
प्रदोष काल में किये जाने वाले नियम, व्रत एवं अनुष्ठान को प्रदोष व्रत या अनुष्ठान कहा गया है। व्रतराज नामक ग्रन्थ में सूर्यास्त से तीन घटी पूर्व के समय को प्रदोष का समय माना गया है। अर्थात् सूर्यास्त से सवा घण्टा पूर्व के समय को प्रदोष काल कहा गया है। तिथियों में त्रयोदशी तिथि को भी प्रदोष तिथि की संज्ञा प्रदान की गयी है। इसका मतलब सायंकालीन त्रयोदशी तिथि को किया जाने वाला व्रत प्रदोष व्रत कहलाता है। प्रदोष व्रत पूर्व विद्धा तिथि के संयोग से मनाया जाता है। अर्थात् द्वादशी तिथि से संयुक्त त्रयोदशी तिथि को यह व्रत आचरित किया जाता है। पक्ष भेद होने के कारण इसे शुक्ल या कृष्ण प्रदोष व्रत कहा जाता है।

दिनों के संयोग के कारण प्रदोष व्रत के नाम एवं उसके प्रभाव में अन्तर हो जाता है। जैसे रविवार को प्रदोष हो तो इसका नाम रविप्रदोष हो जाता है। इसका फल आरोग्य की प्राप्ति बतलाया गया है। सोम प्रदोष व्रत का फल पुत्र की प्राप्ति है। शुक्रप्रदोष से सौभाग्य यानी पति एवं स्त्री को समृद्धि की प्राप्ति होती है। शनिप्रदोष का महाफल बतलाया गया है। प्रदोष व्रत करने वाले स्त्री या पुरुषों को चाहिये कि व्रत के पूर्व दिन सायंकाल नियम पूर्वक व्रत ग्रहण करें। व्रत के दिन प्रात: काल नित्य कर्मादि संपन्न कर संकल्पपूर्वक दिन भर उपवास करें। प्रदोष काल में उमा महेश्वर जी का पूजन पास के किसी देवालय या घर में करें।

अपनी सार्मथ्य के अनुसार पूजन सामग्री, प्रसाद, फूलमाला, फल, विल्वपत्रदि लाकर संभव हो सके तो पति-पत्नी एक साथ बैठकर शिव जी का पूजन करें। यदि मंत्र इत्यादि न आता हो तो नम: शिवाय का उच्चारण करते हुए पूजन करें। पूजन के उपरांत शुद्ध सात्विक आहार ग्रहण करें। इस प्रकार प्रदोष व्रत करने से व्यक्ति की मनोकामनाएं पूर्ण होती हैं।

यह व्रत कृष्ण पक्ष और शुक्ल पक्ष दोनों को किया जाता है। ऎसा माना जाता है कि प्रदोष काल में भगवान भोलेनाथ कैलाश पर्वत पर प्रसन्न मुद्रा में नृ्त्य करते है। जिन जनों को भगवान श्री भोलेनाथ पर अटूट श्रद्धा विश्वास हो, उन जनों को त्रयोदशी तिथि में पडने वाले प्रदोष व्रत का नियम पूर्वक पालन कर उपवास करना चाहिए। यह व्रत उपवासक को धर्म, मोक्ष से जोडने वाला और अर्थ, काम के बंधनों से मुक्त करने वाला होता है।इस व्रत में भगवान शिव की पूजन किया जाता है। भगवान शिव कि जो आराधना करने वाले व्यक्तियों की गरीबी, मृ्त्यु, दु:ख और ऋणों से मुक्ति मिलती है।

This fast is very dear to Lord Shiva, therefore Lord Shiva is worshiped in this fast. In this fast, different doshas are destroyed by worshiping Lord Shiva separately every day.

What is Pradosh
The rules, fasts and rituals performed during Pradosh period are called Pradosh Vrat or rituals. In the book named Vratraj, the time of three hours before sunset has been considered as the time of Pradosh. That is, the time before sunset is called Pradosh Kaal. Among the dates, Trayodashi date has also been given the noun of Pradosh date.This means that the fast observed on Trayodashi Tithi in the evening is called Pradosh Vrat. Pradosh Vrat is observed coinciding with Purva Vidha Tithi. That is, this fast is observed from Dwadashi Tithi to Trayodashi Tithi. Due to the difference of sides, it is called Shukla or Krishna Pradosh Vrat.

Due to the coincidence of days, there is a difference in the name of Pradosh Vrat and its effect. For example, if Pradosh falls on a Sunday, its name becomes Ravi Pradosh. The result of this has been said to be the attainment of health. The fruit of Som Pradosh Vrat is the birth of a son. Shukra Pradosh means good luck means prosperity to husband and wife.The great result of Shanipradosh has been told. Women or men observing Pradosh Vrat should observe Vrat according to rules in the evening before the Vrat. On the day of fasting, do your daily rituals early in the morning and fast with determination throughout the day. During Pradosh period, worship Uma Maheshwar ji in a nearby temple or house.

According to their ability, if possible, husband and wife should sit together and worship Lord Shiva by bringing worship material, prasad, flower garland, fruits, leaves etc. If you don't know the mantra etc., then worship while reciting Namah Shivay.
