सकट चौथ की व्रत कथा
शंकर भगवान की कथा
एक सुबह माँ पारवती स्नान करने गईं। उन्होंने अपने पुत्र श्री गणेश को आदेश दिया की जब तक मैं खुद स्नान करके बाहर नहीं आऊं, कोई भी भीतर ना आ पाए चाहे वो कोई भी हो। उन्होंने अपने पुत्र को द्वार पे रखवाली के लिए खड़ा कर दिया और वे स्नान करने चली गईं।
आज्ञाकारी श्री गणेश जी अपनी माँ की बात मानते हुए द्वार पे खड़े रहे। कुछ समय बाद ही भगवान शिव माता पारवती से मिलने वहां आए। शिव जी जैसे ही भीतर जाने लगे, गणेश जी ने उन्हे रोक दिया। शिव जी को समझ नहीं आया की क्यू उनको भीतर जाने से रोका गया और उन्हें ये बात बड़ी अपमानजनक लगी। शिव जी क्रोधित हो गए और उन्होंने क्रोध में आकर गणेश जी पर त्रिशूल से वार किया जिससे गणेश जी की शीश शरीर से अलग होकर दूर जा गिरा।
जगन्नाथ मंदिर का पौराणिक इतिहास और इससे जुड़ी कहानी
जब ये सब हो रहा था तब बहुत शोर हुआ और यह शोर और हल्ला सुनकर माँ पारवती जब स्नानघर से बाहर आई तो उन्होंने गणेश जी का शीश कटा हुआ देखा। ये देखकर माँ बहुत क्रोधित हुई और साथ ही रोने लगी। उन्होंने शिव जी को गणेश जी के प्राण वापिस देने को कहा।
यह सब देखकर भगवान शिव को बहुत बुरा लगा और उन्हें लगा की उनसे बहुत बड़ी गलती हो गईं क्यूंकि गणेश जी तो बस अपनी माँ की आज्ञा का पालन कर रहे थे। तभी शिव जी ने अपनी शक्तियों से एक हाथी का सर गणेश जी के शरीर से जोड़ा और उन्हें नई ज़न्दगी मिली।
बुढ़िया के बेटे और सटक की कथा
किसी नगर में एक कुम्हार रहता था। एक बार जब उसने बर्तन बनाकर आंवां लगाया तो आंवां नहीं पका। परेशान होकर वह राजा के पास गया और बोला कि महाराज न जाने क्या कारण है कि आंवां पक ही नहीं रहा है। राजा ने राजपंडित को बुलाकर कारण पूछा। राजपंडित ने कहा, ''हर बार आंवां लगाते समय एक बच्चे की बलि देने से आंवां पक जाएगा।'' राजा का आदेश दे दिया। बलि आरम्भ हुई।
जानिये कैसे हुआ हनुमान जी का जन्म : हनुमान जन्म कथा
जिस परिवार की बारी होती, वह अपने बच्चों में से एक बच्चा बलि के लिए भेज देता। इस तरह कुछ दिनों बाद एक बुढि़या के लड़के की बारी आई। बुढि़या के एक ही बेटा था तथा उसके जीवन का सहारा था, पर राजाज्ञा कुछ नहीं देखती। दुखी बुढ़िया सोचने लगी, "मेरा एक ही बेटा है, वह भी सकट के दिन मुझ से जुदा हो जाएगा।" तभी उसको एक उपाय सूझा। उसने लड़के को सकट की सुपारी तथा दूब का बीड़ा देकर कहा, "भगवान का नाम लेकर आंवां में बैठ जाना। सकट माता तेरी रक्षा करेंगी।"

सकट के दिन बालक आंवां में बिठा दिया गया और बुढि़या सकट माता के सामने बैठकर पूजा प्रार्थना करने लगी। पहले तो आंवां पकने में कई दिन लग जाते थे, पर इस बार सकट माता की कृपा से एक ही रात में आंवां पक गया। सवेरे कुम्हार ने देखा तो हैरान रह गया। आंवां पक गया था और बुढ़िया का बेटा जीवित व सुरक्षित था। सकट माता की कृपा से नगर के अन्य बालक भी जी उठे। यह देख नगरवासियों ने माता सकट की महिमा स्वीकार कर ली। तब से आज तक सकट माता की पूजा और व्रत का विधान चला आ रहा है।
बुढ़िया मां और गणेश जी की कथा
एक बुढ़िया थी। वह बहुत ही गरीब और दृष्टिहीन थीं। उसके एक बेटा और बहू थे। वह बुढ़िया सदैव गणेश जी की पूजा किया करती थी। एक दिन गणेश जी प्रकट होकर उस बुढ़िया से बोले-
"बुढ़िया मां! तू जो चाहे सो मांग ले।"
बुढ़िया बोली - "मुझे तो मांगना नहीं आता। कैसे और क्या मांगू?"
तब गणेशजी बोले - "अपने बहू-बेटे से पूछकर मांग ले।"
तब बुढ़िया ने अपने बेटे से कहा - गणेशजी कहते हैं "तू कुछ मांग ले, बता मैं क्या मांगू?"
पुत्र ने कहा- "मां! तू धन मांग ले।"
बहू से पूछा तो बहू ने कहा- "नाती मांग ले।"
गंगा जी की इस कथा से होगा समस्त पापों का नाश: गंगा सप्तमी व्रत कथा
तब बुढ़िया ने सोचा कि ये तो अपने-अपने मतलब की बात कह रहे हैं। अत: उस बुढ़िया ने पड़ोसिनों से पूछा, तो उन्होंने कहा - "बुढ़िया! तू तो थोड़े दिन जीएगी, क्यों तू धन मांगे और क्यों नाती मांगे। तू तो अपनी आंखों की रोशनी मांग ले, जिससे तेरी जिंदगी आराम से कट जाए।"
इस पर बुढ़िया बोली- "यदि आप प्रसन्न हैं, तो मुझे नौ करोड़ की माया दें, निरोगी काया दें, अमर सुहाग दें, आंखों की रोशनी दें, नाती दें, पोता, दें और सब परिवार को सुख दें और अंत में मोक्ष दें।"
यह सुनकर तब गणेशजी बोले- "बुढ़िया मां! तुमने तो हमें ठग लिया। फिर भी जो तूने मांगा है वचन के अनुसार सब तुझे मिलेगा।" और यह कहकर गणेशजी अंतर्धान हो गए। उधर बुढ़िया मां ने जो कुछ मांगा वह सब कुछ मिल गया। हे गणेशजी महाराज! जैसे तुमने उस बुढ़िया मां को सबकुछ दिया, वैसे ही सबको देना।
Story of Lord Shankar
One morning mother Parvati went to take bath. He ordered his son Shri Ganesh that no one should be able to come inside, whoever he may be, until I come out after bathing myself. She made her son stand guard at the door and she went to bathe.
Obedient Shri Ganesh ji kept standing at the door obeying his mother. After some time Lord Shiva came there to meet Mother Parvati. As soon as Shiv ji started going inside, Ganesh ji stopped him. Shiv ji did not understand why he was stopped from going inside and he found this thing very insulting. Shiv ji got angry and in anger he attacked Ganesha with his trishul, due to which Ganesha's head separated from his body and fell away.

When all this was happening, there was a lot of noise and when mother Parvati came out of the bathroom after hearing this noise and commotion, she saw Ganesha's head cut off. Seeing this, the mother became very angry and started crying as well. He asked Shiv ji to give back the life of Ganesha.
Lord Shiva felt very bad seeing all this and felt that he had made a big mistake because Ganesha was just following his mother's orders. That's why Shiv ji attached the head of an elephant to the body of Ganesha with his powers and he got a new life.
The story of the old woman's son and Satak
A potter lived in a city. Once he made a utensil and planted gooseberry, but the gooseberry did not cook. Distressed, he went to the king and said that the king does not know the reason why the gooseberry is not getting cooked. The king called the Rajpundit and asked the reason. Rajpundit said, "Every time a child is sacrificed at the time of sowing gooseberry, the gooseberry will ripen." The king's order was given. The sacrifice started.

The family whose turn it was, would send one of their children for the sacrifice. In this way, after a few days the turn of an old woman's son came. The old lady had only one son and was the support of her life, but Rajagya does not see anything. The sad old woman started thinking, "I have only one son, he will also be separated from me on the day of distress." Only then a solution was suggested to him. He gave the boy betel nuts and betel nut and said, "Take the name of God and sit in the awan. Sakat Mata will protect you."

On the day of Sakat, the child was made to sit in a manger and the old woman sat in front of Sakat Mata and started praying. Earlier, it used to take many days to cook gooseberry, but this time with the grace of Sakat Mata, gooseberry got cooked in just one night. When the potter saw it in the morning, he was surprised. The gooseberry was ripe and the old woman's son was alive and safe. By the grace of Sakat Mata, other children of the city also came to life. Seeing this, the townspeople accepted the glory of Mata Sakat. Since then till today the law of worship and fasting of Sakat Mata is going on.
Story of old mother and Ganesha
There was an old woman. She was very poor and blind. He had a son and daughter-in-law. That old lady always used to worship Lord Ganesha. One day Ganesha appeared and said to that old woman-
"Old mother! Ask for whatever you want."
The old woman said - "I do not know how to ask. How and what should I ask for?"
Then Ganeshji said - "Ask your daughter-in-law and son and ask."
Then the old woman said to her son - Ganeshji says "You ask for something, tell me what should I ask for?"
The son said - "Mother! You ask for money."
When asked the daughter-in-law, the daughter-in-law said - "Ask for the grandson."
All sins will be destroyed by this story of Ganga ji: Ganga Saptami Vrat Katha
Then the old woman thought that he was speaking his own opinion. So that old woman asked the neighbors, then they said - "Old woman! You will live for a few days, why should you ask for money and why should you ask for grandchildren. You should ask for the light of your eyes, so that you can spend your life comfortably."
On this the old woman said- "If you are happy, give me nine crores of illusion, give me a healthy body, give immortal nectar, give me eyesight, give grandson, grandson, and give happiness to all the family and finally salvation. "
After hearing this, Ganeshji said - "Old mother! You have cheated us. Still, whatever you have asked for, you will get everything according to your promise." And by saying this Ganeshji disappeared. On the other hand, whatever the old mother asked for, she got everything. Hey Ganeshji Maharaj! Just like you gave everything to that old mother, give it to everyone.
