सावन माह में सोमवार का महत्व
श्रावण माह में भी सोमवार का विशेष महत्व है। वार प्रवृत्ति के अनुसार सोमवार भी हिमांषु अर्थात चन्द्रमा का ही दिन है। स्थूल रूप में अभिलक्षणा विधि से भी यदि देखा जाए तो चन्द्रमा की पूजा भी स्वयं भगवान शिव को स्वतः ही प्राप्त हो जाती है क्योंकि चन्द्रमा का निवास भी भुजंग भूषण भगवान शिव का सिर ही है।
रौद्र रूप धारी देवाधिदेव महादेव भस्माच्छादित देह वाले भूतभावन भगवान शिव जो तप-जप तथा पूजा आदि से प्रसन्न होकर भस्मासुर को ऐसा वरदान दे सकते हैं कि वह उन्हीं के लिए प्राणघातक बन गया, वह प्रसन्न होकर किसको क्या नहीं दे सकते हैं?

असुर कुलोत्पन्न कुछ यवनाचारी कहते हुए नजर आते हैं कि जो स्वयं भिखमंगा है वह दूसरों को क्या दे सकता है? किन्तु संभवतः उसे या उन्हें यह नहीं मालूम कि किसी भी देहधारी का जीवन यदि है तो वह उन्हीं दयालु शिव की दया के कारण है। अन्यथा समुद्र से निकला हलाहल पता नहीं कब का शरीरधारियों को जलाकर भस्म कर देता किन्तु दया निधान शिव ने उस अति उग्र विष को अपने कण्ठ में धारण कर समस्त जीव समुदाय की रक्षा की। उग्र आतप वाले अत्यंत भयंकर विष को अपने कण्ठ में धारण करके समस्त जगत की रक्षा के लिए उस विष को लेकर हिमाच्छादित हिमालय की पर्वत श्रृंखला में अपने निवास स्थान कैलाश को चले गए।
हलाहल विष से संयुक्त साक्षात मृत्यु स्वरूप भगवान शिव यदि समस्त जगत को जीवन प्रदान कर सकते हैं। यहाँ तक कि अपने जीवन तक को दाँव पर लगा सकते हैं तो उनके लिए और क्या अदेय ही रह जाता है? सांसारिक प्राणियों को इस विष का जरा भी आतप न पहुँचे इसको ध्यान में रखते हुए वे स्वयं बर्फीली चोटियों पर निवास करते हैं। विष की उग्रता को कम करने के लिए साथ में अन्य उपकारार्थ अपने सिर पर शीतल अमृतमयी जल किन्तु उग्रधारा वाली नदी गंगा को धारण कर रखा है।

उस विष की उग्रता को कम करने के लिए अत्यंत ठंडी तासीर वाले हिमांशु अर्थात चन्द्रमा को धारण कर रखा है। और श्रावण मास आते-आते प्रचण्ड रश्मि-पुंज युक्त सूर्य ( वैशाख, ज्येष्ठ, आषाढ़ में किरणें उग्र आतपयुक्त होती हैं।) को भी अपने आगोश में शीतलता प्रदान करने लगते हैं। भगवान सूर्य और शिव की एकात्मकता का बहुत ही अच्छा निरूपण शिव पुराण की वायवीय संहिता में किया गया है। यथा-
'दिवाकरो महेशस्यमूर्तिर्दीप्त सुमण्डलः।
निर्गुणो गुणसंकीर्णस्तथैव गुणकेवलः।
अविकारात्मकष्चाद्य एकः सामान्यविक्रियः।
असाधारणकर्मा च सृष्टिस्थितिलयक्रमात्। एवं त्रिधा चतुर्द्धा च विभक्तः पंचधा पुनः।
चतुर्थावरणे षम्भोः पूजिताष्चनुगैः सह। शिवप्रियः शिवासक्तः शिवपादार्चने रतः।
सत्कृत्य शिवयोराज्ञां स मे दिषतु मंगलम्।'
अर्थात् भगवान सूर्य महेश्वर की मूर्ति हैं, उनका सुन्दर मण्डल दीप्तिमान है, वे निर्गुण होते हुए भी कल्याण मय गुणों से युक्त हैं, केवल सुणरूप हैं, निर्विकार, सबके आदि कारण और एकमात्र (अद्वितीय) हैं।

यह सामान्य जगत उन्हीं की सृष्टि है, सृष्टि, पालन और संहार के क्रम से उनके कर्म असाधारण हैं, इस तरह वे तीन, चार और पाँच रूपों में विभक्त हैं, भगवान शिव के चौथे आवरण में अनुचरों सहित उनकी पूजा हुई है, वे शिव के प्रिय, शिव में ही आशक्त तथा शिव के चरणारविन्दों की अर्चना में तत्पर हैं, ऐसे सूर्यदेव शिवा और शिव की आज्ञा का सत्कार करके मुझे मंगल प्रदान करें। तो ऐसे महान पावन सूर्य-शिव समागम वाले श्रावण माह में भगवान शिव की अल्प पूजा भी अमोघ पुण्य प्रदान करने वाली है तो इसमें आश्चर्य कैसा?
जैसा कि स्पष्ट है कि भगवान शिव पत्र-पुष्पादि से ही प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं। तो यदि थोड़ी सी विशेष पूजा का सहारा लिया जाए तो अवश्य ही भोलेनाथ की अमोघ कृपा प्राप्त की जा सकती है। शनि की दशान्तर्दशा अथवा साढ़ेसाती से छुटकारा प्राप्त करने के लिए श्रावण मास में शिव पूजन से बढ़कर और कोई श्रेष्ठ उपाय हो ही नहीं सकता है।
Significance of Monday in Sawan month
Even in the month of Shravan, Monday has special significance. According to Vaar Pravritti, Monday is also the day of Himanshu i.e. Moon. If it is seen from the physical form also by the method of characteristics, then the worship of the moon itself is automatically attained by Lord Shiva because the abode of the moon is also the head of Bhujang Bhushan Lord Shiva.
Devadhidev Mahadev Mahadev, a ghostly form with a body covered in ashes, who can give such a boon to Bhasmasur by being pleased with penance, chanting and worship etc. that he became fatal for him, what can he not give to anyone by being pleased?

Some Yavanacharis who are born asuras are seen saying that what can he give to others who is himself a beggar? But possibly he or they do not know that if any bodily being has life, it is because of the kindness of that merciful Shiva. Otherwise, the Halahal that came out of the sea would have burnt the body holders to ashes, but Daya Nidhan Shiva protected the entire living community by keeping that very fierce poison in his throat. Those with fierce heat took the most dangerous poison in their throat and went to Kailash, their abode in the snow-capped Himalayan mountain range, for the protection of the whole world.
If Lord Shiva in the form of direct death combined with Halahal poison can give life to the whole world. Even if they can put their lives at stake, what else is left unpaid for them? Keeping this in mind that worldly creatures should not be affected by this poison at all, they themselves reside on the snowy peaks. In order to reduce the virulence of the poison, along with other benefactions, he has kept the cool nectar-like water on his head, but the raging river Ganges.

To reduce the ferocity of that poison, Himanshu i.e. the moon with extremely cold effect has been worn. And by the time of the month of Shravan, the Sun with its intense rays (rays in Vaishakh, Jyeshtha, Ashadh are fiercely intense.) also start providing coolness in their lap. The oneness of Lord Surya and Shiva has been well described in the Vayavaya Samhita of the Shiva Purana. as-
"Divakaro Maheshasya Moortirdipta Sumanḍalaḥ.
Nirguno Gunasankīrṇastathaiva Gunakevalaḥ.
Avikārātmakaścādya Ekaḥ Sāmānyavikriyaḥ.
Asādhāraṇakarmā ca Sṛṣṭisthitilayakramāt. Evaṁ tridhā caturdhā ca vibhaktaḥ pañcadhā punaḥ.
Caturthāvaraṇe Ṣambhoḥ pūjitāṣcanugaiḥ saha. Śivapriyaḥ Śivāsaktaḥ Śivapādārcane rataḥ.
Satkṛtya Śivayorājñāṁ sa me diśatu maṅgalam."
That is, Lord Sun is the idol of Maheshwar, His beautiful circle is radiant, He is full of auspicious qualities in spite of being Nirguna, He is only golden, Nirvikar, The original cause of all and the only (unique) one.

This ordinary world is his creation, his actions are extraordinary in the order of creation, maintenance and destruction, in this way he is divided into three, four and five forms, he is worshiped in the fourth form of Lord Shiva along with his acolytes, he is the form of Shiva. Beloved, devoted only to Shiva and ready to worship the feet of Shiva, such Suryadev may grant me auspiciousness by honoring the orders of Shiva and Shiva. So, why is it surprising that even a small worship of Lord Shiva in the month of Shravan, when there is such a great auspicious Surya-Shiva confluence, gives immense virtue?
As it is clear that Lord Shiva becomes pleased only with leaves and flowers. So if a little special worship is resorted to, then surely the unfailing grace of Bholenath can be obtained. There can be no better way than worshiping Shiva in the month of Shravan to get rid of Saturn's Dashantardasha or Sade Sati.
