श्री कृष्ण और कालिया नाग की कहानी
यह बात तब की है जब यशोदा के लला कंहैया गोकुल में रहा करते थे। गोकुल के पास ही युमना नदी बहती है। एक बार यमुना को कालिया नाग ने अपना घर बना लिया और नदी के पानी को अपने विष से जहरीला कर दिया। उस पानी को पीकर पशु-पक्षी और गांव के लोग मरने लगे थे।
एक बार श्री कृष्ण अपने दोस्तों के साथ खेलते-खेलते यमुना नदी के किनारे पहुंच गए और खेलते-खेलते अचानक से उनकी गेंद नदी में गिर जाती है। अब यमुना नदी के पानी और उसमें रहने वाले कालिया नाग के बारे में सभी को मालूम था। इसलिए, मौत के डर से कोई भी नदी में जाने को तैयार नहीं हुआ।

तब श्री कृष्ण ने कहा कि मैं गेंद लेकर आता हूं। सभी बच्चों ने उन्हें नदी में जाने से रोका, लेकिन वह नहीं माने और नदी में छलांग लगा दी। सभी बच्चे डर के मारे घर पहुंचे और यशोदा मैया को कंहैया के नदी में कूदने की बात बता दी। यह सुनते ही यशोदा मैया डर गईं और फूट-फूट कर रोने लगीं। यह बात धीरे-धीरे पूरे गाेकुल धाम में जंगल की आग की तरह फैल गई।
सभी दौड़े-दौड़े यमुना नदी किनारे आए गए, लेकिन कृष्ण अभी तक वापस नहीं आए थे। वहीं, नदी में कृष्ण को देखकर कालिया नाग की पत्नियों ने उन्हें वापस जाने को कहा, लेकिन कृष्ण नहीं माने और तभी कालिया नाग जाग गया। कृष्ण ने कालिया नाग को यमुना नदी छोड़ने का आदेश दिया, लेकिन कालिया नाग ने मना कर दिया और कृष्ण को मारने के इरादे से उन पर हमला कर दिया। कृष्ण और कालिया नाग की जोरदार लड़ाई हुई। कुछ समय के बाद कालिया नाग हार गया और कृष्ण उसके फन पर नाचने लगे।

कालिया नाग थकने के बाद कृष्ण से अपने प्राण बचाने के लिए प्रार्थना करने लगा। तब कृष्ण ने उसे अपने स्थान पर वापस जाने को कहा। कालिया ने कहा कि वहां पर गरुड़ मुझे मार डालेगा, मैं वहां कैसे जाऊं। इस पर कृष्ण ने कहा कि मेरे चरणों के निशान तुम्हारे फन पर हैं, उसे देखकर गरुड़ तुमको नहीं मारेगा।
इसके बाद कालिया नाग श्री कृष्ण को अपने फन पर उठाकर यमुना नदी से बाहर आ गया और इसके बाद अपनी पत्नियों के साथ अपने स्थान पर चला गया। कृष्ण को सही सलामत वापस पाकर सभी बहुत खुश हुए और गोकुल में उत्सव मनाया गया।

This thing happened when Yashoda's son Kanhaiya used to live in Gokul. Yamuna river flows near Gokul. Once Yamuna was made home by Kaliya Nag and poisoned the water of the river with his poison. Animals and birds and the people of the village started dying after drinking that water.
Once Shri Krishna reached the bank of river Yamuna while playing with his friends and while playing suddenly his ball falls into the river. Now everyone knew about the water of Yamuna river and Kalia Nag living in it. Therefore, no one agreed to go into the river for fear of death.

Then Shri Krishna said that I will bring the ball. All the children stopped him from going into the river, but he did not agree and jumped into the river. All the children reached home in fear and told Yashoda Maiya about Kanhaiya jumping into the river. On hearing this, Yashoda Maiya got scared and started crying bitterly. This thing gradually spread like a forest fire in the entire Gokul Dham.
Everyone ran to the banks of the Yamuna river, but Krishna had not returned yet. At the same time, seeing Krishna in the river, the wives of Kaliya Nag asked him to go back, but Krishna did not agree and only then Kaliya Nag woke up. Krishna ordered Kalia Nag to leave the river Yamuna, but Kalia Nag refused and attacked Krishna with the intention of killing him. There was a fierce fight between Krishna and Kaliya Nag. After some time Kaliya Nag was defeated and Krishna started dancing on his hood.

After getting tired Kaliya Nag started praying to Krishna to save his life. Then Krishna asked him to return to his place. Kalia said that Garuda will kill me there, how can I go there. On this Krishna said that the marks of my feet are on your hood, Garuda will not kill you after seeing that.
After this, Kaliya Nag came out of the Yamuna river by lifting Shri Krishna on his hood and then went to his place with his wives. Everyone was overjoyed to have Krishna back safe and sound and a celebration was held in Gokul.
