श्री कृष्ण और पूतना वध की कहानी
कंस का अंत नजदीक आ चुका था। उसे इस बात का पता चल चुका था कि उसकी मृत्यु उसके ही भांजे कृष्ण के हाथों होने वाली है। फिर क्या था, बाल गोपाल को मारने के लिए कंस कई तरह के हथकंडे अपनाने लगा। वह कृष्ण को मारने के लिए शक्तिशाली दानवों को भेजता, लेकिन नटखट कन्हैया की बाल लीला के आगे किसी की नहीं चली।

एक बार कंस ने पूतना नाम की राक्षसी को बाल कृष्ण का वध करने के लिए भेजा। जैसे ही पूतना गोकुल पहुंची, उसने एक सुंदर स्त्री का रूप धारण कर लिया। स्त्री का रूप धारण कर पूतना घर-घर जाकर कृष्ण की तलाश करने लगी। कृष्ण की खोज में पूतना को जो भी बालक मिलता, वो उसे अपने विष वाले दूध को पिलाकर मार देती।

जब पूतना कृष्ण के घर पहुंचती है, तब भगवान कृष्ण को पता चल जाता है कि वह एक राक्षसी है। पूतना कृष्ण को गोदी में उठाकर अपना विषैला दूध पिलाने लगती है। कृष्ण को दूध पीते देखकर पूतना सोचने लगती है कि अब यह मर जाएगा। भगवान कृष्ण कुछ देर बाद दूध पीते-पीते ही राक्षसी के प्राण खींचने लगते हैं। दर्द के कारण राक्षसी पूतना कृष्ण को आसमान की ओर लेकर उड़ जाती है और पास के जंगल में कान्हा सहित गिर जाती है। थोड़ी देर बाद ही राक्षसी के प्राण निकल जाते हैं। इस तरह भगवान कृष्ण राक्षसी पूतना का वध कर देते हैं।

Once Kansa sent a demon named Putna to kill the child Krishna. As soon as Putana reached Gokul, she assumed the form of a beautiful woman. Taking the form of a woman, Putna went from house to house in search of Krishna. Whatever child Pootna found in search of Krishna, she would kill him by making him drink her poisoned milk.

When Putana reaches Krishna's house, Lord Krishna learns that she is a demon. Putana takes Krishna in her lap and starts feeding her poisoned milk. Seeing Krishna drinking milk, Putna starts thinking that he will die now. After some time, Lord Krishna starts pulling the life of the demonic as soon as he drinks milk. Due to the pain, the demonic Putana carries Krishna towards the sky and falls down along with Kanha in the nearby forest. After a while, the demon's life goes out. In this way Lord Krishna kills the demonic Putana.
