तुलसी विवाह कथा
हिंदू धर्म में तुलसी पूजन का बड़ा महत्त्व है। ऐसा माना जाता है की तुलसी में साक्षात लक्ष्मी जी का निवास है। महिलायें तुलसी विवाह भी करती हैं जो की कार्तिक शुक्ल पक्ष की द्वादशी को होती है। ऐसी मान्यता है की तुलसी जी का विवाह करने से भगवान विष्णु का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होता है और जीवन में खुशहाली आती है।
जगन्नाथ मंदिर का पौराणिक इतिहास और इससे जुड़ी कहानी
वृंदा नाम की एक स्त्री थी, जिसका जन्म राक्षस कुल में हुआ था। वृंदा विष्णु जी की बहुत बड़ी भक्त थी। उसका विवाह राक्षस कुल में दानव राजा जलंधर से करा दिया गया। इस राक्षस ने चारों तरफ हाहाकार मचा कर रखा था। ये बेहद ही वीर और पराक्रमी था। राक्षस की वीरता का रहस्य उसकी पत्नी थी जो पतिव्रता धर्म का पालन करती थी। पत्नी के व्रत के प्रभाव से ही वो राक्षस इतना वीर बन पाया था। ऐसे में उसके अत्याचार से परेशान होकर देवता लोग भगवान विष्णु के पास गए। सभी देवताओं की प्रार्थना सुनकर भगवान विष्णु ने वृंदा का पतिव्रता धर्म भंग करने का निश्चय कर लिया।
जानिये कैसे हुआ हनुमान जी का जन्म : हनुमान जन्म कथा
भगवान विष्णु ने जलंधर का रूप धारण किया और वे वृंदा के महल में पहुंच गए। जैसे ही वृंदा की नज़र अपने पति पर पड़ी वे पूजा में से तुरंत उठ गई और उसने जलंधर का रूप धारण किए भगवान विष्णु के चरण छू लिए। वृंदा का पति जालंधर युद्ध कर रहा था, लेकिन जैसे ही वृंदा का सतीत्व नष्ट हुआ उसके पति का कटा हुआ सिर उसके आंगन में आ गिरा। वृंदा सोचने लगीं कि यदि सामने कटा पड़ा सिर मेरे पति का है, तो जो व्यक्ति मेरे सामने खड़ा है, यह कौन है? वृंदा के पूछने पर भगवान विष्णु अपने वास्तविक रूप में आ गए। वृंदा अपने साथ हुए इस छल से बहुत आहत हुई और उसने भगवान विष्णु को श्राप दे दिया कि “आप पत्थर के बन जाओ”। वृंदा के श्राप से विष्णु तुरंत पत्थर के बन गए। ये देखकर लक्ष्मी जी ने वृंदा से यह प्रार्थना की वो विष्णु जी को अपने श्राप से मुक्त करे।
कैसे हुई माँ गंगा की उत्पत्ति जानिए इस कथा के माध्यम से: गंगा की उत्पत्ति कथा
माता लक्ष्मी के अनुरोध पर वृंदा ने श्राप विमोचन किया और स्वयं अपने पति का कटा सिर लेकर सती हो गई। वृंदा की राख से एक पौधा निकला, जिसे भगवान विष्णु ने तुलसी के पौधे का नाम दिया और कहा कि “शालिग्राम” नाम से मेरा एक रूप इस पत्थर में रहेगा, जिसकी पूजा तुलसी के साथ ही की जाएगी। भगवान विष्णु ने कहा कि मेरी पूजा में तुलसी का उपयोग जरूरी होगा। कहा जाता है कि तब से कार्तिक मास में तुलसी का विवाह शालिग्राम जी के साथ किया जाने लगा।

There was a woman named Vrinda, who was born in a demon clan. Vrinda was a great devotee of Lord Vishnu. She was married to the demon king Jalandhar in the demon clan. This monster had created hue and cry all around. He was very brave and mighty. The secret of the monster's valor was his wife The one who followed the religion of husbandry. That demon was able to become so brave because of the effect of his wife's fast. In such a situation, troubled by his atrocities, the deities went to Lord Vishnu. After listening to the prayers of all the deities, Lord Vishnu decided to break Vrinda's chastity.

Lord Vishnu assumed the form of Jalandhar and reached Vrinda's palace. As soon as Vrinda caught sight of her husband, she immediately got up from the worship and touched the feet of Lord Vishnu in the form of Jalandhar. Vrinda's husband was fighting in Jalandhar, but as soon as Vrinda's chastity was destroyed, her husband's severed head fell in her courtyard. Vrinda started thinking that if the severed head in front is of my husband, So who is this person standing in front of me? On Vrinda's request, Lord Vishnu appeared in his real form. Vrinda was deeply hurt by this trick on her and she cursed Lord Vishnu that "you turn into stone". Vishnu immediately turned to stone due to Vrinda's curse. Seeing this, Lakshmi ji prayed to Vrinda to free Vishnu from his curse.

On the request of Mata Lakshmi, Vrinda released the curse and herself committed sati by taking the severed head of her husband. A plant emerged from Vrinda's ashes, which Lord Vishnu named Tulsi plant and said that a form of mine named "Shaligram" would remain in this stone, which would be worshiped along with Tulsi. Lord Vishnu said that the use of Tulsi would be necessary in my worship. It is said that since then Tulsi was married to Shaligram in the month of Kartik.
