भाद्रपद शुक्ल पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि को राधाष्टमी व्रत रखा जाता है। भगवान श्री कृष्ण के बिना राधा जी अधूरी हैं और राधा जी के बिना श्री कृष्ण। जन्माष्टमी के लगभग 15 दिनों बाद ही राधा अष्टमी का पर्व मनाया जाता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार जो व्यक्ति जन्माष्टमी का व्रत रखता है और राधा अष्टमी का व्रत नहीं रखता तो उसे जन्माष्टमी के भी फलों की प्राप्ति नहीं होती। इस दिन जो भी व्यक्ति सच्चे मन और श्रद्ध से राधा जी की आराधना करता है, उसे अपने जीवन में सभी प्रकार के सुख साधनों की प्राप्ति होती है और उसे अपने जीवन मे किसी भी प्रकार की परेशानी का सामना नहीं करना पड़ता। शास्त्रों के अनुसार ये दिन राधा रानी के जन्म दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है।
राधा जी के जन्म को लेकर मान्यता
पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार माना जाता है कि एक बार भगवान श्री कृष्ण अपने धाम गोलोक में बैठे थे। वह किसी ध्यान में मग्न थें कि अचानक से उनके मन में एक सी उठी। भगवान श्री कृष्ण की उस आनंद की लहर से एक बलिका प्रकट हुई। जो राधा कहलाई। इसी कारण से ही श्री कृष्ण का जाप करने से पहले राधा का नाम लेना आवश्यक है। अगर ऐसा नहीं किया जाता तो कृष्ण जाप का भी पूर्ण फल प्राप्त नहीं होता। राधा अष्टमी को त्योहार रावल और बरसाने में बड़ी ही धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। शास्त्रों के अनुसार राधा जी का जन्म सुबह के 4 बजे हुआ था। इसी कारण से यह उत्सव रात से ही शुरु हो जाता है। जैसे कि इसका नाम से ही स्पष्ट होता है कि इस दिन राधा रानी की पूजा का विधान है। ये त्योहार रावल, बरसान, मथुरा और वृंदावन के साथ-साथ जम्मू कश्मीर में भी बड़ी धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है। बता दें कि इस दिन राधा रानी चरण दर्शन भी होते हैं। जोकि पूरे साल में केवल एक बार यानि राधा अष्टमी के दिन ही होते हैं।

राधा अष्टमी व्रत कथा
राधा वृषभानु गोप की पुत्री थीं। राधाजी की माता का नाम कीर्ति था। पद्म पुराण में राधा को राजा वृषभानु की पुत्री बताया गया है। इस ग्रंथ के अनुसार, जब राजा यज्ञ के लिए भूमि साफ कर रहे थे, तब उन्हें धरती के रूप में राधा मिलीं। राजा ने इस कन्या को अपनी पुत्री माना और इसका पालन-पोषण किया। ऐसी भी किंवदंती है कि भगवान विष्णु ने कृष्ण अवतार में जन्म लेते समय अपने परिवार के अन्य सदस्यों को पृथ्वी पर अवतरित होने के लिए कहा था, तब विष्णु की पत्नी लक्ष्मी जी राधा के रूप में पृथ्वी पर आईं। ब्रह्मवैवर्त पुराण के अनुसार राधा श्रीकृष्ण की सखी थीं। लेकिन उनकी शादी रापान या रेयान नाम के व्यक्ति से हुई थी. ऐसा कहा जाता है कि राधाजी अपने जन्म के समय ही श्री कृष्ण की प्रेमिका बनने के लिए वयस्क हो गई थीं।
व्रत विधि
- प्रातः स्नानादि से निवृत्त हो।
- इसके बाद पैवेलियन के नीचे एक विचारधारा और उसके केंद्र में मिट्टी या ज्वालामुखी का कलश स्थापित किया गया।
- अब इस पात्र पर राधा जी के वस्त्रों से खुली मूर्ति की स्थापना करें।
- इसके बाद राधाजी का षोडशोपचार से पूजन करें।
- ध्यान रखें कि पूजा का समय ठीक दो बार होना चाहिए।
- पूजा के बाद; पूर्ण उपवास रख सकते हैं या एक समय स्वस्तिक भोजन ले सकते हैं।
- राधा गायत्री मंत्र का नियमित जाप करें।
- दूसरे दिन ब्राह्मणों ने भोजन किया और उन्हें दक्षिणा दिया।
राधा अष्टमी पूजा विधि
राधा अष्टमी के दिन भक्त सच्चे मन से व्रत रखते हैं। राधाजी की मूर्ति को पंचामृत से स्नान कराया जाता है और स्नान कराने के बाद उनका श्रृंगार किया जाता है। विग्रह में राधा की सोने या किसी अन्य धातु से बनी सुंदर मूर्ति स्थापित करें। मध्याह्न के समय श्रद्धा और भक्तिपूर्वक राधा जी की पूजा करें। धूप-दीप आदि से आरती करने के बाद अंत में भोग लगाया जाता है। कई ग्रंथों में राधा अष्टमी के दिन राधा और कृष्ण की संयुक्त रूप से पूजा की जाती है।
इसके अनुसार सबसे पहले राधाजी को पंचामृत से स्नान कराकर उनका विधिवत श्रृंगार करना चाहिए। इस दिन 27 पेड़ों की पत्तियां और 27 लट्ठों का जल मंदिर में एकत्र करना चाहिए। मूल शांति सौ मन दूध, दही, शुद्ध घी और बूरा तथा औषधियों से करनी चाहिए। राधा अष्टमी के दिन, भक्त देवी राधा के विभिन्न नामों का जाप करते हैं और 'राधा गायत्री मंत्र' का जाप भी करते हैं।

महत्व एवं महत्ता
राधा अष्टमी व्रत जीवन में सुख और समृद्धि लाता है। राधा गायत्री मंत्र का जाप और आरती करने से; भक्त उनकी सभी बाधाओं को दूर करेंगे, भौतिक इच्छाओं को प्राप्त करेंगे और अंततः मोक्ष प्राप्त करेंगे। राधा अष्टमी व्रत एवं राधा-कृष्ण की पूजा; व्यक्ति अपने सभी पापों से मुक्त हो जाएगा. हिन्दू धर्मग्रंथों के अनुसार यदि श्रीराधा की पूजा नहीं की जाती है; भक्त को श्री कृष्ण की पूजा करने का भी अधिकार नहीं है। जैसे राधा भगवान कृष्ण की जीवन ऊर्जा हैं। इसलिए राधा और कृष्ण एक साथ मौजूद हैं और उन्हें 'राधाकृष्ण' कहा जाता है।

A girl child appeared from that wave of joy of Lord Shri Krishna. Who was called Radha. This is the reason why it is necessary to take Radha's name before chanting Shri Krishna. If this is not done then the full fruit of Krishna chanting is also not achieved. The festival of Radha Ashtami is celebrated with great pomp in Rawal and Barsane. Radha Ashtami vrat Katha
Radha was the daughter of Vrishabhanu Gopa. Radhaji’s mother’s name was Keerthi. In Padma Purana, Radha is described as the daughter of King Vrishabhanu. According to this scripture, when the king was clearing the land for the yajna, then he got Radha in the form of Dharti(Land). The king considered this girl his daughter and brought it up. There is also the legend that Lord Vishnu had asked other members of his family to incarnate on earth while taking birth in Krishna avatar, then Lakshmi ji, wife of Vishnu, came to Earth as Radha. According to the Brahma Vaivarta Purana, Radha was the friend of Shri Krishna. But she was married to a person named Rapan or Rayan. It is said that Radhaji became an adult at the time of her birth to be the lover of Shri Krishna.
Vrat Method
- Retire from morning bath.
- After this, make a mandala under the pavilion and install clay or copper Kalas in its center.
- Now install a statue of Radha Ji equipped with clothes on this vessel.
- After that, worship Radhaji with shodashopachaar.
- Keep in mind that the time of worship should be exactly midday.
- After the puja; one can keep complete fast or can take swastika food once.
- Regularly chant Radha Gayatri Mantra.
- On the second day, give food to Brahmins and give them Dakshina.
Radha Ashtami puja vidhi
Devotees observe fast on the day of Radha Ashtami with a pure heart. The idol of Radhaji is bathed with panchamrit and after bathing, she is adorned. Install a beautiful idol made of gold or any other metal of Radha in the Deity. Worship Radha Ji with reverence and devotion during the mid-day. After doing aarti with incense and lamp etc., the bhog is performed at the end. In many texts, Radha and Krishna are worshiped jointly on the day of Radha Ashtami.
According to this, firstly Radhaji should take a bath with Panchamrit and make her duly adorned. On this day, the leaves of 27 trees and the water of 27 logs should be collected in the temples. Basic peace should be made with a hundred mind milk, curd, pure ghee and boora, and medicines. On the day of Radha Ashtami, devotees recite different names of Goddess Radha and also chant the ‘Radha Gayatri Mantra’.

Importance and Significance
Radha Ashtami vrat brings happiness and prosperity in life. By chanting Radha Gayatri mantra and Aarti; devotees will overcome all his obstacles, attain the materialistic desires and finally attain salvation. Radha Ashtami fast and worshipping Radha-Krishna; the person will free from all his/her sins. According to Hindu scriptures, if the worship of Shri Radha is not done; the devotee does not even have the right to worship Shri Krishna. As Radha is the life energy of Lord Krishna. So Radha and Krishna exist together and are referred to as ‘Radhakrishna’.
